Hand Held Products SCANTEAM® 8300 Check Reader

Description
The Hand Held Products SCANTEAM 8300 product line is a family of check reader products with various interface and decoding capabilities. All versions utilize a magnetic MICR read head and include a host system interface port. Versions of the product are available which support the direct connection to POS terminal I/O Ports, integrated bar coded document reading, numerous keyboard wedge interfaces, hand held scanner decoding, integrated magnetic stripe reader, and auxiliary RS-232 I/O ports. All Hand Held Products ST8300 products contain FLASH memory which allows for easy firmware upgrades in the field without the need to disassemble the product.

The Hand Held Products ST8300 products provide multiple options in meeting the data capture needs of retail and financial transaction systems. The Hand Held Products ST8300 may be ordered with options which provide an integrated triple track mag stripe reader, a bar code scanner port, and two RS-232 ports for future peripherals, such as PIN Pads or a Signature Capture Pad. The Hand Held Products ST8300 is compatible with hundreds of POS and teller systems through the built in interface/wedge controller. The Hand Held Products ST8300 typically operates from +5 volt or +12 volt power from the host device and does not require external power pack or connector blocks.

Connects to IBM 468X/469X, NCR OCIA, Fujitsu OCR and Serial RS-232 devices without the need for an external interface controller. Multiple interfaces included in every ST8300 product.

Compatibility with hundreds of PC, POS, and teller systems through keyboard wedge interface.

Check Handling and Transport
Motorized paper transport for quick, easy check handling, and a high first pass good read rate.

Integrated Triple Track Mag Stripe Decoder
Attachment of the optional integrated MSR allows for Track 1, 2, and 3 data capture with output data formatting capability within the compact ST8300 enclosure.

Flash Memory-Based Firmware
Easy and fast firmware modifications. Allows for field upgrade of ST8300 program memory for future enhancements without a chip change. Supports host down line load of program memory and parameters.

RS-232 Ports
The one standard, and second optional RS-232 ports allow for additional peripherals, such as PIN Pad and Signature Capture Pad.

Wide Range Input Power
Operates from either a regulated +5VDC power source, or a regulated or unregulated +7 to +13 VDC power source. For many installations, an external power pack is not required.

Laser/CCD/Wand Scanner Port
The optional bar code scanner port provides Hand Held Products' high performance bar code decoding feature in the same compact ST8300 enclosure.

E13-B and CMC-7 MICR Font Auto-Discrimination
The ST8300 can read documents encoded with either E-13B or CMC-7 fonts. This feature is useful for installations near international borders where financial documents may be encoded in either font.
