A versatile operating environment for Omni transaction systems
VeriFone's TransACTION Express Option (TXO™) operating environment opens up new possibilities for Transaction Automation users. Designed for the OMNI family of transaction systems, TXO is programmable in the widely used C language.

Virtually any programmer can develop applications for Omni systems.
And when you want custom applications, programmers working in TXO can readily put them together.
TXO is available with a complete set of programming tools that help simplify a programmer's job. And TXO applications are machine-independent. They can run on different models of the same system family. So it's easy to move applications as you upgrade from one Omni™ transaction system to another.
This versatile operating environment also incorporates built-in diagnostics- to give users advance warning of potential malfunctions in time to prevent them. And it has the ability to perform these diagnostics remotely over phone lines. Further, TXO supports both synchronous and asynchronous communications protocols, allowing Omni systems to access a broader range of networks.

Portable for painless upgrades
Applications written for one TXO platform can run on all TXO platforms, regardless of microprocessor differences. This is made possible by the presence of an interpreter, or a middleman, between the programming code and the machine code.
Programming code need only be compiled to the level of this intermediate level of this interpreter, not down to machine code. So, moving a program from one Omni system to another simply requires recompiling the source code, if there are no major hardware differences.
Plus, since the intermediate code takes up only half the memory of machine code, you get double the functionality for the same amount of RAM.

Programming tools aid application development
TXO is available with a pair of programming tools that simplify and accelerate application development.
TXO ACT (Applications Construction Toolkit) is a comprehensive set of program modules that gives programmers a jump start on creating applications for Omni 330, Omni 380 and Omni 480 systems. All modules are written in a generic fashion, so they can be used to build different applications for different Omni systems, without worrying about the peculiarities of a particular platform.
TXO Workbench is an interactive software program that contains everything a programmer needs to build a library of functions. Through a series of menus, TXO Workbench guides programmers through the steps of coding, compiling, linking, testing, downloading and debugging your application. It gives programmers the precision tools they need to get the job done faster and easier.

Easy debugging
TXO allows you to debug your programs by monitoring the real thing in real time. Connect a PC to your VeriFone system and watch as the system executes the program, line by line, as it is running. So bugs can be caught before they affect system performance.

Built-in diagnostics
To ensure that Omni system users have the most reliable transaction systems available, TXO automatically records over 40 different measures of machine and applications performance. It supplies crucial statistics on power cycles, successful and unsuccessful dial-outs card reads and other I/O data.

Communications switch-hitter- synchronous/asynchronous
TXO works with both synchronous and asynchronous communications protocols so Omni transaction systems can access a wide variety of networks. And that access will be transparent- because the application can choose the appropriate protocol automatically on a transaction-by-transaction basis.
Thus users will be prepared as credit card network systems expand from being predominantly asynchronous to include synchronous communications protocols.

Smooth deployment
With TXO, getting Omni transaction systems up and running is a hands-off job. Day / time and password are set automatically, thanks to an enhanced downloading program.
