Labels, Tags and Ribbons
UL Recognized and CSA Approved Labels
UL recognized/CSA approved labels. A specific label and ribbon
combination will meet UL969 on specific surfaces and under specific
conditions. Manufacturers can then use these labels to display
safety-related information on products that have the same surface
and are exposed to the same conditions.
Product sold outside the US may require a CSA Mark. This Mark is
issued by CSA International and is intended to "maintain agreed-upon
standards of quality, performance, interchangeability and/or safety
as appropriate." The Standards cover all permanent adhesive labels
and nameplates that are intended for use indoors or outdoors on
substrates that are clean, smooth, flat or simple curved. While CSA
requirements differ from those mandated by the UL, there are many
label/ribbon combinations that are UL/CSA approved.
