Key Features and Benefits

Industrial Enclosure: Tough metal case and print mechanism for continuous reliability in rugged industrial environments.

Bi-Fold Steel Enclosure Door: The enclosure door has a bi-fold hinge allowing the lid to fold back when opened, providing easy access to the printer's internal mechanism, especially where overhead space is restricted.

Color Coded Components: Color components simplify printer operation and user intervention. The colors indicate to the user which parts can be moved or touched and can reduce training time.

8-inch Medial Roll Capacity: The 2746 accommodates an 8 inch (outer diameter) label roll with a 1 inch (inner diameter) core minimum. This large capacity increases efficiency by reducing the amount of label roll changes during a print job.

Media Peeler and Rewinder STANDARD:

The 2746 is equipped with both:

Internal rewinder for spooling of labels and/or take up of excess label backing,

Peel mode using the label present sensor- labels are separated from their backing material and are ready to be applied.

These benefits are standard, no need to worry about ordering them as upgrades or options for your printer. The rewinder and peel mechanism has been redesigned for enhanced performance reliability

Adjustable Media Sensor: The 2746 includes gap and black-line media sensing standard on a moveable sensor assembly. This moveable assembly provides flexibility for odd media sizes. The printer can be used with either black line or gap media without having to install any additional sensors.

Optional Cutter: Optional heavy duty rotary cutter is available for the 2746. This cuts both tag and label media. Add the label catcher (pictured) for increased efficiency and less waste.

Print Technology:

Direct Thermal - simple to use and very economical, this technology is ideal for printing high quality short life labels.

Thermal Transfer - offers sharp quality, durable print with maximum read/scan capability.

The 2746 handles both direct thermal and thermal transfer print technologies standard.

Print Speed: The 2746 can print at 2, 4 and 6 inches per second. The printer can print at the speed best suited to the application.

Print Resolution: 203 dots per inch print resolution for sharp quality images.

Parallel and Serial Interface: The Zebra 2746 has two (2) standard interfaces, centronics parallel and RS-232 serial (DB9 connector).

Serial communication baud rate ranges from 2.4K to 38.4K bps.

Both the parallel and serial ports provide +5vdc enabling the printer to power another device.

Network Connectivity: The Zebra PrintServer™ (optional) LAN/Ethernet adapter enables the 2746 to work in a 10Base-T Ethernet network. This eliminates the need for a direct PC connection, saves space and increases the printer location possibilities.

EPL2 Compatible: EPL2 (Eltron Programming Language) is the common language of Eltron brand printers (now Zebra printers).

SRAM Memory Expansion: Expanded SRAM enables the Zebra 2746 to print longer label lengths without installing a memory cartridge.

Standard configuration: 256K (4 x 11 inch print length)

Upgraded configuration to a total of: 512K (4 x 22 inch print length)

Flash Memory Expansion

The flash memory expansion option enables increased forms, graphics and external font storage in the printer. Additional flash enables the printer to accommodate Asian character sets supporting global labeling applications.

Standard Flash configuration = 512K for firmware, forms, fonts and graphics storage.

Flash configuration upgrade = 1 MB total for firmware and increased forms, fonts and graphics storage.

Flash Firmware:

The new flash memory architecture enables firmware to be easily upgraded electronically.
A major benefit of this feature is that it is very simple to download the very latest firmware version to the printer. This prevents firmware obsolescence.

Double Buffering:

The 2746 offers double buffering for faster throughput. While one label is printing, the second label is processing, reducing the time lapse between labels when printing a variety in a batch.

Dual Processor Architecture:

The 2746 operates with a new dual processor platform. Two 16 bit processors are working instead of one. While one 16 bit processor is imaging the label, the other is controlling the necessary hardware, freeing up internal resources and increasing the throughput of print batches with multiple label types.

International Character Sets:

All international character sets come standard with the 2746, including the Euro character support.
No firmware changes needed for these character sets!

Asian Character Sets:

Chinese, Japanese and Korean character sets are now available as an option on the 2746 with an additional flash memory upgrade.

ECAP - Eltron Common Architecture Platform

All new generation Eltron printers (now Zebra printers) share the ECAP platform, meaning that all printers are flash based and have the same capability and features across the printer group.

Current ECAP printer: LP/TLP 2722, LP/TLP 2742, LP 2443 (Orion) and the 2746.

The different printer model PCB's are not interchangeable but are similar in function.

The Zebra 2746 printer now comes equipped with ECAP to ensure that this newer generation Zebra printer bears the same features as the entire product line.
