Downloading and Installing Seagull BarTender Software Tips
All of the downloadable software stored on the
Seagull BarTender
Download Page is stored in compressed form, so that the files
can be transmitted by modem in the shortest possible time. However,
that means that, once you have downloaded a file, it still has to be
uncompressed before you can do anything with it. Then, once it has
been uncompressed, it still needs to be installed. Below, you will
find some tips on downloading, uncompressing, and installing Seagull
software.
Preparing a Temporary Directory
to Download To
In preparation for downloading a file, create a temporary
directory on your hard drive, unless you already have an empty
directory suitable for temporary use. (You will usually not require
the files left in the temporary directory once you have finished
uncompressing and installing the downloaded software and can
therefore then delete them at your option.)
Downloading Your File(s)
To download a given file, simply click on the text reference to
it (usually in a different color, such as blue).
A window will now pop up, whose contents will vary depending on
which Internet browser you are using. (Don't worry if your browser
complains about not finding a properly configured "viewer." You want
to download the file, not view it.)
Choose the option that is closest to "Save" or "Save to Disk" or
just "Download."
Specify the above-mentioned empty directory as your location to
download to.
