Who Needs Seagull License Server?

Seagull License Server is a software tool for monitoring and enforcing the maximum allowable number of printers used. It is a required component of a purchased Enterprise installation of BarTender. It is not supported or needed if you are using BarTender in the 30-day trial mode, or have purchased a Basic or Professional edition. If you purchase the Enterprise Edition, Seagull License Server will be included on the product CD. You only need to download it from here if there is an update you need or if you wish to install before you receive your CD.

Summary of Operation

Seagull License Server runs unattended on any computer on the LAN and will monitor BarTender clients over a LAN in order to keep track of the total number of printers being used. On Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, or Windows XP computers, Seagull License Server can be configured to operate as a Windows service that runs whenever your computer is on, whether or not anyone is actually logged into the computer

Installing Seagull License Server

If you have the Enterprise Edition of BarTender, install the Seagull License Server before installing BarTender. Seagull License Server runs unattended and invisibly on any computer on your network. You may install it on a computer that will also run BarTender. Seagull License Server interacts with BarTender seamlessly so that BarTender users need not even know that it is running. Choose a computer on your network to be the host of the Seagull License Server. It can be any computer, as long as it is accessible through your network from all of the workstations on which you run BarTender. Download and execute the Seagull License Server Installation file (available below). Near the end of the installation, you will be given the option of running the Activation Wizard, which provides full activation instructions.
