Equipped with a new high-speed RISC processor, the SATO M8490Se printer is capable of printing 4.4” wide images at 8ips, bringing a new level of OEM printer performance and throughput to automatic label applicator systems.
The SATO M8490Se thermal printer brings a new level of
OEM printer performance to automatic label applicator
systems, capable of printing 4.4" wide images at 8" per
second. At the heart of every SATO M8490Se printer lies
a new high-speed RISC processor, giving it amazing power
and speed for maximum throughput, even when printing
directly from standard Windows applications. With a
print resolution of 305dpi (12 dots/mm) and 21 built-in
barcode symbologies and graphics, the SATO M8490Se
printer is perfect for a wide variety of barcode label
applications.
The SATO M8490Se printer comes standard with 18MB of
on-board memory for storing multiple fonts, graphics,
and formats, with the option of adding an additional 4MB
of Flash memory or an additional 16MB of PMCIA memory.
You can also choose from one of SATO’s standard
high-speed, bi-directional Plug-in Interface Modules:
IEEE 1284 Parallel, RS232, Serial, Twinax/Coat, or
Ethernet.
The SATO M8490Se printer is built with a heavy gauge
steel enclosure designed for production environments,
yet internal access for maintenance remains simple and
intuitive. This printer also features the unique
user-replaceable print head for the lowest possible
maintenance costs.

The SATO M8490Se brings a new level of OEM printer
performance to automatic label applicator systems. It
prints a 4.4" wide image at speeds up to 8" per second!
At the heart of every SATO M8490Se is a new high-speed
RISC processor for maximum throughput. With a dot
density of 305 dpi (12 dots/mm), the SATO M8490Se is
perfect for a wide variety of barcode label applications
using any of the 21 built-in barcode symbologies and
graphics.
Throughput - The SATO M8490Se printer set new benchmarks
in label throughput. A new generation RISC processor
provides high performance in label production even when
printing directly from standard Windows® applications.
Memory - The SATO M8490Se printer come with a full 18 MB
of onboard memory STANDARD! Enough memory for storing
multiple fonts, graphics, formats etc. without the need
for optional 4 MB of Flash memory or an additional 16 MB
of PCMCIA memory may be added.
Dimensions - Designed specifically for integration into
automatic print and apply systems, this compact,
one-piece printer requires less than 8.6 inches of
clearance behind the mounting panel. The height, width
and location of mounting holes are identical to the
earlier SATO OEM print engines, making it easy to
upgrade to the SATO M8490Se. Plus the SATO M8490Se is
compatible with the programming commands for the SATO
M8400S and the SATO M8490S, making it a simple drop-in
replacement.
Interface Connections -
Choose from one of SATO's
standard high-speed, bi-directional Plug-In Interface
Modules: IEEE1284 Parallel or High-Speed Serial (up to
57.6k bps). Also available are optional Plug-In
Interface Modules for Twinax/Coax and Ethernet
(10/100BaseT) and RS422/485.
Reliable - For reliable performance over extended
periods of time, the SATO M8490Se was designed as a high
duty cycle applicator print engine. It is not a
repackaged tabletop printer. Even the heavy gauge steel
enclosure was designed for production environments. Yet
internal access for maintenance is simple. For the
lowest maintenance costs, the SATO M8490Se maintains the
unique user replaceable printhead feature found in all
SATO printers.
