Printronix introduces a new patented MP2 radio frequency identification (RFID) Smart encoding technology, the industry's first designed specifically to EPCglobal^(TM) Gen 2 encoding specifications. The Printronix SmartLine family of RFID printers leverages this technology and introduces a six-inch RFID printer as well. With this, the new Printronix SL5000r MP2 and SLPA7000r MP2 become the first RFID printer and printer applicator families designed to Gen 2 encoding specifications.

The Printronix MP2 RFID Smart encoding technology includes an optimized Gen 2 design to support the widest range of Gen 2 tags while offering continued support of EPC Class 0, 0+, 1 and Philips UCode 1.19 protocols. For global compliance, the MP2 can switch frequencies with regional upgrade kits.

These advanced ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID printing solutions give users a migration path to tomorrow's technology. The Printronix SL5000r MP2 and SLPA7000r MP2 encode and print different protocols, label sizes and inlay designs that have emerged from supply-chain implementations. Offering real-time XML printer and job control, along with XML forms printing and EPC encoding, the Printronix SL5000r MP2 and SLPA7000r MP2 are the most advanced XML-based RFID print and control platforms on the market. Printronix's SmartLine family also features Unicode with TrueType font support for worldwide compliance requirements and local printing needs.
