PSION HC Range Memory and Data Storage (still available)
Psion Solid State Disks (SSDs) are the ultimate in data security. There are no fragile moving parts and they keep your valuable records far more secure than conventional floppy disks. Simply insert them into the slots of your HC computer for more memory whenever you need it.
Choose the right SSD for your requirements
Flash SSDs: For maximum security. Flash SSDs require no battery to retain the data they store - and consequently provide extremely good data integrity and security. The data you store on them can be selectively deleted: the space is reclaimed when the SSD is reformatted - a simple, menu controlled operation. Flash SSDs are ideally suited for storing important data which rarely changes. Sizes include 128K, 256K, 1MEG, 2MEG, 4MEG, 8MEG.
RAM SSDs: For maximum convenience. Powered by a lithium backup battery, RAM SSDs are ideal for storing information that frequently changes. New data simply overwrites the data it replaces. Sizes include 128K, 512K, 1MEG, 2MEG.
SSD Drive
Fast and efficient data transfer: SSDs can be written to, or read, directly by a desktop computer equipped with a Psion SSD Drive. This consists of a SSD Drive Unit, Psion Serial
Interface Card, and PC software utility to drive the card.
Once installed, the SSD Drive can be accessed using the software utility program, which gives access to the SSDs using DOS style commands such as 'COPY','DELETE', and 'FORMAT'. Flash and RAM SSDs can both be accommodated in the Drive and can be used interchangeably. With a data transfer rate of 1.536 Mbps (RAM SSD), software programs and other information can be transferred to and from the handheld and host computer with ease and efficiency.
