3M Touch System's MicroTouch TouchTek5
5-wire Analog Resistive Touchscreen
The MicoTouch TouchTek5 5-wire touchscreen is the most durable, reliable resistive
touchscreen available. MicoTouch TouchTek5 is tough enough to continue functioning even if the
topsheet is damaged, and is engineered to withstand 35 million touches to any area of the
screen. Specifications include narrow inactive border areas and compact touch sensors for
optimum useable screen area and full mouse emulation without excess power consumption.
MicoTouch TouchTek5 may be specified with flat or curved screen sensors for full display design
flexibility.
MicoTouch TouchTek5 touchscreens are ideal for use in desktop
monitors, point-of-sale (POS) systems, medical equipment and process control systems.
How MicoTouch TouchTek5 Works
TouchTek5, MicroTouch Systems 5-wire touchscreen, offers the highest level of
durability of any resistive touchscreen. TouchTek5 is constructed of a hard-coated
polyester topsheet that is overlaid on a conductively-coated glass layer. Voltage is
applied to the topsheet. As the user touches the screen, the topsheet compresses into
contact with the glass layer, and current flows to the four corners in proportion to the
distance from the edge. The TouchTek5 controller then calculates the position of the
finger or stylus, based on the current flows. Because 5-wire technology derives both the
X and Y touch coordinates from the stable glass layer, the
accuracy and operation of TouchTek5 is unaffected by damage to the topsheet caused by
extended use or neglect. Controller options for TouchTek5 include USB, serial,
PCBus, daughterboard, or motherboard-resident chipsets.
MicoTouch TouchTek5 topsheets are available in an ideal finish for
use where glare and light transmission are not problematic, an industrial finish with
anti-glare characteristics suited for mixed lighting conditions, and a polished finish for
general use.
