Opticon
Model LC10M
Magnetic Stripe/Bar Code Slot Reader
Opticon combined the best features of its quality bar
code readers with a magnetic stripe reader, resulting in a single slot reader that
performs both functions.
The Opticon Model
LC10M/MCR-1000 two-in-one card reader will read a
card or badge with a bar code symbol. It will also read a card with magnetic stripe
information. There is no need for the user to indicate the type of card being used. The
reader automatically senses which type of information is present.
Combining both functions in a single unit eliminates the need for two separate card
readers. This not only saves money, but also saves valuable space at the workstation. In
addition, it simplifies user training and eliminates potential confusion.
Using the reader is easy. Simply "swipe" the card through the
slot in either direction. The reader is extremely speed tolerant, and will accept a wide
range of swiping speeds.
The design of the reader provides a high degree of flexibility when reading bar codes.
For example, an adjustable sensor height allows a bar code to be located almost anywhere
on a card. Innovative design of the cable exit location allows the card reader to be
easily installed in a variety of ways: on desk or tabletop, side or rear mount.
The reader is fully decoded for both bar code or magnetic stripe
information. Either keyboard wedge or RS232 interface is available. The reader can be
configured to read magnetic stripe information on ISO Track 1, Tracks 1 & 2 or 2 &
3. An auxiliary external scanner port is available as an option, allowing the use of a
second bar code scanning device.
