LDP AS/400 Software Features
- LDP AS/400 SYSTEM SOFTWARE: LDP System Software provides
many benefits to AS/400 users who need to print bar coded
labels.
- GRAPHICAL INTERFACE SAVES TIME: Operators can see the label
format on the screen in detail as they design a label. Test
printing can be performed with a stroke of a key.
- PROGRAM INTEGRATION IS EASY: A simple two step process is
used to integrate printing into your programs. You first map the
variable fields on your label design to your existing database
and then perform a CL command to print a label. Both RPG and
COBOL languages are supported.
- STANDARD PC PRINTERS SAVE MONEY: Standard PC printers with
serial and parallel interfaces can be used. Many vendors charge
an additional $1250 per printer for a twin-ax option.
- SOFTWARE IS OPTIMIZED TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE: Variable data
is simply inserted into a preexisting data stream which
dramatically reduces both processing and I/O time. The result is
faster printing and less demand on your AS/400.
- REDUCE RISK: We offer a 30 day money back guarantee.
LDP AS/400 Software System Overview
Nearly anyone can design a label format on a PC that has the
graphical interface installed. The graphical interface allows users
to design label formats while looking at the finished product. Test
labels can be immediately printed by connecting the printer directly
to the Design Station PC. Once a label format is designed and saved,
an ASCII file with an mic extension is created and then copied to
the LDP400 folder on the AS/400.
Once the mic file is copied to the LDP400 folder, the label is
created (defined) on the AS/400. Users can select default values and
define variable field/parameters. Once created, users can print the
label using keyed in data from the keyboard or from data files. The
system is designed to work with existing database structures and
with the use of APIs (Application Program Interface), users can
incorporate printing into existing programs. RPG, COBOL, and CL
languages are supported.
Once a print job is started, each job is sent to the selected
outqueue and is handled the same as any other print job. Users can
hold spool files, set priorities, cancel, reprint, restart, prompt
for form type, and track the status. Other functions include the
ability to hold spool files until started and the ability to print
immediately or wait until spool files are closed.
All screen formats and keyboard operations are those recommended
by IBM. AS/400 user should have a certain comfort factor with the
software right from the start.
