These ingenious labels are a great solution to the problem of relabeling food containers. Bacteria grow at a staggering rate; according to scientists, in just seven hours, a single bacterium will reproduce itself over two million times. To do this, the little microbe needs food and the right temperature. The little so-and-so also needs water, so anything that replaces a damp, wet breeding ground is a welcome alternative.

One all too common environment that unwittingly encourages bacteria growth is food labeling—ironically intended to ensure food safety.  When old shelf-life labels which have only partially disintegrated in the dishwasher retain moisture, they become a welcome home for any passing bacterium.

The new PAXAR DISSOLVX color coded shelf-life labels have resolved this issue by completely dissolving in the dishwasher.

DISSOLVX® labels feature a biodegradable adhesive and will dissolve completely within seconds when immersed in normal tap water of any temperature. Clean-up time is reduced and bacteria-harboring adhesive build-up and residue is eliminated. Labels can be written on with pen or printed with a Monarch handheld labeler.

DISSOLVX® labels meet the requirement of FDA 21 CFR 175.105 for indirect food contact. This material provides moderate tack and adhesion that will adhere to hard plastic and stainless steel containers.

Note: DISSOLVX® labels are extremely sensitive to humidity and temperature. Storage conditions should be maintained at 73F and 50% RH. Labels should remain wrapped when stored. Labels should be used (applied to surface) within six months from purchase.

Minimum application temperature: 21°F
