When Windows® is not required
The best decisions you make for your business put the
right functionality in the hands of workers. Many
applications don't need Windows for easy data capture
and entry. Those are the work environments ideal for the
CipherLab 8500 Computer Series.
Windows requires more computing energy than text-based
systems, resulting in shorter battery life. For longer
operating periods, the CipherLab 8500 Series text-based
OS puts a lighter load on the processor, extending
battery operation up to 400 hours.
Familiar VT100/220 and TN5250 terminal emulation, a
27-key keypad and a large, multi-font, LCD touchscreen
displaying up to 19 lines of text make the CipherLab
8500 Series easy to use and easy to read inside and
outside. The CipherLab 8500 Mobile Computer Series adds
powerful, wireless data management in any enterprise
operating system environment.

4000 mAh battery works through multi-shift operations
between recharges, with up to 400 hours of use in batch
mode and 32 hours using WLAN1. A backup battery protects
data during battery replacement.

integrates a range of communications options. 802.11b
WLAN enables instant wireless communications with
backend systems. GSM/GPRS WWAN gives you maximum
productivity in the field to update enterprise databases
from anywhere. Bluetooth Class 2 puts more information
in more places wherever and whenever you need it. Plus,
USB, modem and Ethernet-enabled cradles give you
limitless options for communications.
Easy label reading- at any distance
Long- and extra-long-range lasers boost productivity and
accelerate all reading activities, from as close as 5cm
(2") up to 13 meters (43ft) away. Laser and linear
imager options allows ideal adaptation to your
environment and requirements.
The CipherLab 8500 Series reads a wide range of codes,
including the latest 2D symbologies. Increasingly used
where small label size and large amounts of data are
desired, 2D codes allow high-data density in such
applications as small item tracking, electronic
component marking, portable data files, Material Data
Safety Sheets or secure personal identification such as
drivers licenses.
